What is this?
TWO HIKES: Shorter, moderate hike, ~ 3+ miles lead by
Rich Clairwood 860.908.2157.
Longer, strenuous hike, ~ 4+ miles, lead by Jeanne Delehanty, 860.748.5858. Both hikes are out and back. The trails are leaf covered and wet, especially after this week's rain. HIKING FOOTWEAR REQUIRED. HIKING POLES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Bring water, snacks, chair, headlamp, blanket or extra layers and other gear as appropriate. Arrive by 1:30 PM. Both hikes step off promptly at 1:45 PM. Please be on time - it is getting too chilly to wait for late arrivals. The hikes will feature beautiful river views, a waterfall and interesting stone foundations dating to Colonial times. We'll return to watch the sunset over the pond while enjoying mulled cider around the fire pit. After some howling at the nearly full moon we'll adjourn to Illiano's Pizzeria,
119 S Main St #1456, Colchester, CT.
DIRECTIONS TO DAY POND: From Rt 2 take Exit 16. Follow Rt 149S for ~3 miles to hard right onto Peck Lane, then left onto Day Pond Rd. Park at far end of pond, at the end of the road. Port-O-Potty on site.
