In my opinion, this is one of the best “bang for your buck” hikes in Connecticut. For just enough effort to raise your heart beat, you are rewarded with views as far south as Long Island and as far north as the Hartford skyline and Mt Tom in Massachusetts, plus dramatic views of Crescent Lake immediately below us. The hike is approximately 2.5 miles and less than 2 hours long, including stops to enjoy the view. We will meet at noon and step off at 12:15.
Sturdy shoes and hiking poles are recommended but not required. Bring water for the hike and a snack, your favorite beverage and a folding chair for a post hike gathering in the park.
Directions: Giuffrida Park is located at 800 Westfield Rd., Meriden.
From the north, take I-91 to Exit 20, turn left and then right onto Country Club Rd., which eventually becomes Westfield Rd. The park is located on the right where Westfield Rd. takes a sharp left turn.
From the south, take I-91 to Exit 20, turn left onto Country Club Rd. and follow the above directions to the park.
