Join us for hiking, a scavenger hunt, “Poetry by the Pit” and a visit to Saint-Gaudens National Historic Park. Saint-Gaudens was the defining American sculptor of the Gilded Age and pioneered the integration of sculpture with the surrounding buildings and landscape. With its
captivating buildings and grounds that include gardens, art, a sculpture studio (meet the artist sculptor in residence - she has a very interesting project which includes visitor participation) and hiking trails we will enjoy the glitter of art in nature.
FRIDAY
• No daytime activities scheduled so you can arrive early to bike, hike, kayak, sightsee, have a maple creeme, all on your own.
• We’ll gather at 7:00 PM for snacks and “Poetry at the Pit.” Bring an original composition, favorite fall quote or poem or pick one from a selection to be provided that evening. Extra credit for costumes (think Gilded Age or autumn in VT)! BYOBeverages, chair and extra layers or blanket.
SATURDAY
• Continental breakfast available at 7:00 AM.
• Depart lodge for Saint-Gaudens at 10:00 AM. Bring your National Parks pass and admission is free for you and 3 others. Otherwise it is $10. The Park is cashless so bring your pass or debit or credit card.
• 5:00 PM Happy Hour at the lodge. BYOBeverages. Apps requested.
• 7:00 PM Gilded Age Dinner. Did you know that “macaroni baked with cheese” was a novelty in the Gilded Age and Thomas Je?erson is credited with making it popular? See how our version stacks up. Glittery dessert, entertainment and scavenger hunt results to follow.
SUNDAY - Gilded breakfast items will be provided.
