About this event
Quarry Park is located in northeast Rocky Hill on a former trap rock quarry that was worked from the late 1800s to 1957. The quarry floor is on several levels and the highest rock face is about 60 feet high. This moderate, approximately 3 mile hike has views of the CT River valley and the Great Meadow. The trap rock and leaves on trails make for uneven footing and can be slippery if wet. Hiking footwear required. Poles will help with balance and are encouraged. Arrive by 11:15 a.m., hike steps off promptly at 11:30 a.m. Please be on time. It is getting too chilly to wait for late arrivals. Parking is located adjacent to 262 Old Main St, near the trail head. Parking is also available on adjacent Matteson Ave. Après-hike we will rehydrate at a local watering hole. Hike Leader Marsha Baretta, 860-690-3864.
