Hike Peak Mtn with overlooks to Newgate Prison and the western hills.  Hike leader Jeanne Delehanty, 860-748-5858.  Meet at the trailhead at the intersection of Rt 20, Newgate Rd and Holcomb St., East Granby at 12:15 pm. Hike steps off at 12:30 pm. Parking is available along Newgate Rd and Holcomb St.  This approximately 5 mile out and back hike is rated moderate…it begins with a very steep section to the top of the Metacomet Ridge.  Then we will follow the trail along the ridge, with moderate ups and downs and minor rock scrambles, to Chimney Rock and back.  Apres cookout at Karen & Mike Korby’s home.  Directions will be provided at the hike. They will provide hot dogs and hamburgers…BYOB, a side or dessert to share, and a chair.
